Jalen Martinez joins GRB Iowa with a strong background as a versatile two-way player and a proven track record of success at the high school, junior college, NAIA, and Division 1 collegiate levels. A native of Waukee, Iowa, Martinez played his prep baseball at Waukee High School before continuing his career at Iowa Central Community College, where he established himself as one of the top players in junior college baseball and was named a Junior College All-American.

Martinez continued his playing career at the Division I level with Ball State University and Arkansas State University. During his time at Ball State, he helped the Cardinals win a MAC Championship and advance to an NCAA Regional, gaining valuable experience competing at the highest levels of college baseball. His ability to contribute on both sides of the ball as a left-handed pitcher and outfielder has shaped his understanding of the game and gives him a unique perspective to bring to young athletes.

In addition to his collegiate accomplishments, Martinez earned recognition as an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove recipient, highlighting his defensive ability and commitment to playing the game the right way. Across his collegiate career, Martinez hit .339 with a .954 OPS, demonstrating his ability to consistently impact the game with both average and power.

As a coach, Martinez is passionate about helping players develop not only their skills, but also their confidence, work ethic, and understanding of what it takes to compete at the next level. His experiences as a player from junior college success and Division I championships. Give him a firsthand perspective on the different paths athletes can take to reach their goals. He is excited to bring that experience, energy, and passion to GRB Iowa and help develop the next generation of players on and off the field.
